SureCare Staff Training
At SureCare we are well aware of the pivotal role staff play in transforming the lives of our young people. It is therefore of paramount importance that everyone in our team is trained to operate at their best and with a consistent approach.
Training sessions are held on appointment and also on an ongoing basis.
Mandatory staff training is held yearly.
Areas covered include
- National Federation for Personal Safety (NFPS)
- Health and safety at work
- First aid
- Child protection
- Fire safety
- Administration of medication
- Challenging behaviour training
- Diploma level three in children and young people (for these who are not already qualified)
The following training was administered in 2011 and, in all activities forming part of the training, the young people are specifically drawn upon as likely scenarios and focus points.
The activities are generally around 50% of the training and thus children are always the focus of our learning. The following sessions included specific discussion relating to the young people’s profiles, adding more to the efficacy of the staff dealing with them.
In total this training amounted to approximately 100 hours of psychological input to all staff over teh year.
